WORLD FAIR TRADE DAY 2016

For World Fair Trade Day 2016 we organised the 'True Fashion Show’. The concept we created was inspired by the year’s theme: ‘Be an agent for change’.

 
 
 

CONCEPT + PRODUCTION

Together with our partner for this project ASB Bank we had the idea to show consumers you don’t need to give in on style when you choose for sustainable fashion, encouraging visitors to become an agent for change, simply by consciously choosing what kind of fashion brands they want to support.  In a time where most events attracted a niche audience our main goal was to attract a different audience this time and go more mainstream. 

 
 
 

CONTEST

With a  contest for creatives to share their ideas on how to promote true fashion and a chance to win budget to actually produce their ideas we selected the ideas from The View Concepts, a  young creative agency to produce a catwalk show, and photographer Laila Cohen for a photography series, which she exhibited and and of which her idea was to publish a special edition book.  

PROGRAM

With pakhuis de Zwijger as location partner and De Wolven as PR partner on boards we organised a catwalk show, photography exhibition, talkshow and party - all in one night. 

The programme included a talk show with Safia Minney (Founder of People Tree), Doug Mignola (Founder of Hoodlamb) and Carlien Helmink (co-founder of Studio JUX) who were invited on stage to share the stories behind what was to be seen on the catwalk and in the beautiful pictures. 

 
 
 
 

The event was sold out in no time, attracting and inspiring the target audience we aimed for as well as attention from press. Profits of the evening were donated to Swallow, one of People Tree’s Fair Trade producer partners in Bangladesh.
